Let's Hit It, LLLLEEERRROOOOYYY!!!

Ok, time to geek out. Watch this clip. If you don't want to sit through the whole thing, at least forward it to it about 1:06 and listen until 1:32. And then the very end, 2:47.

Leroy is now a legend.

I've actually been playing WoW for the past week now, so I thoroughly enjoyed that! :-)

First off, let me just say that I am now covered in Diet Coke. I snarfed what I had in my mouth when Leeroy yelled. Thanks for that. Very funny though.

In addition to now being a legend, I think that Leroy should become the poster child for an anti-drug campaign targeting computer gamers. "Don't let what happened to Leroy happen to you...."

JMc: Now you see why I don't want Michelle or I to get hooked on WoW: you get stoopid.

The anti-drug campaign idea is Classic!

BTW, I decided that I'm too productive at work and picked up EQ2 and WoW...

If you haven't heard yet, Jamie and Michelle double teamed me and forced me to buy two copies of WoW. We took turns playing last night (one computer is having memory issues that will be resolved shortly). I hate Jamie for doing this to me.

We've set up Tuesday nights as 'Game Night'. Maybe you could join us since we can't seem to ever see you in the real world....

Well, you all managed to pick the one night in the week that doesn't work for me. When do you start and how late do you play?

Ben said...

Well, as Jamie put it, 'Every night is Game Night here'. Last night we started around 8 and I quit around 12. Your milage may vary. We'd be more than willing to change things up if you're interested in joining us.

Well, I have the game and the whole point is to be social with it. Are their different servers? Which one are all of you on? Any recommendations on a class I should be that your group is missing? I have it sitting here on my desk waiting to be installed.

There are dozens of servers of different types. We play on the Eonar server. You can choose from Alliance races (Human, Night Elf, Dwarf, Gnome) or Hoarde races (Orc, Troll, Tauren, Undead). Characters from different sides have very limited interaction possibilities. I would suggest being a human, dwarf, or gnome. Night Elves start off in BFE, but the other three start fairly close together. Pick a class to your liking: I don't know enough about them yet to provide solid input.

I haven't played extensively due to time and hardware issues, but I'm already in love. I have a Dwarven Hunter. He has a gun. Guns rock. B-)

What are your character names?

Ben said...

My Dwarf is named Bram. He's probably going to be the only low-level dwarf in the human's starting area of Northshire Abbey. Michelle hasn't actually made a 'real' character yet. I don't know Jamie's or Jessie's 'real' character names either.

Why 'real'? The one time that Michelle and I did play, all of us started with new Night Elf characters. We weren't too thrilled with them so we ditched them and either made new characters (me) or went back to old ones (J&J).

The most important thing is to make sure you are on the "Eonar" realm (server). And, I would take Ben's advice to create an Alliance character (human, dwarf, gnome...or night elf if you want to start on the complete other side of the map). Jessie and I are usually on every night. Lately that has included weekend nights as well. I will warn you that the game is very addicting. My main is a dwarf paladin named Jossamer and my alt is a human rogue named Blayden. I also created a night elf priest called Sylvanthor, but I probably won't play him much...at least for a while. When deciding on a character class, decide what you most want to do when battling in groups. Do you want to be a tank...someone who is the main attack person? Then go with a warrior. Do you want to be the main healer? Then go with a priest. Main spellcaster? Choose a mage. Or, if you want to play a more hybrid role, pick a paladin, rogue, etc. It's really your preference. Each race will only allow a set number of classses. I.e., you can't be a human hunter but you can be a dwarf or night elf one. We'll be having a mini-LAN party day of WoW on Saturday. You're welcome to come up and play with us, which should make it easier to learn the ropes, or you can just join us online for the day if you don't have other plans but don't want to make the drive.

Ok, I'm on Eaner with a Night Elf Warrior (was between a warrior, druid, or hunter). Decided to go with Warrior because I've never played a tank class in all of the RPG's I've played. Something attractive about the simplistic nature of it.

Anyway, the name is Slydac. I ran all around the Island I'm on. Do you all know if there is a boat or something that can at least get me to the right land mass? Ironforge, I take it?

Look here and here. You are on the island/tree of Teldrassil, top left corner of the first map. Make your way to Rut Theran village on the south of the island. You should be able to catch a boat to the city of Auberdine and from there a boat to Menethil Harbor on the Eastern Continent. Make your way to Ironforge from there. Ironforge and Stormwind (starting cities for humans, dwarves, and gnomes) are connected by a tram. Michelle and I are currently near Stormwind, and she is a human mage named Xandra. I'll look for you.
